Veydan Cloud Account Deletion
You can delete your Veydan Cloud account by verifying your authority to do so. Deleting a Cloud account and destroying a cryptographic identity are separate actions. We manage the service on our infrastructure; we do not own your identity.
A Cloud account is not automatically deleted solely because it has been inactive for a long time. This does not mean temporary files are stored indefinitely.
1. Deleting Your Account in the App
The current version lets you delete your account yourself in the app after verifying access to that account. Open your Cloud settings, select the account deletion option, and confirm by following the instructions in the app.
Before confirming, save any files, originals, and keys you need. Cloud is a sync service with temporary data storage and does not replace backups. A downloaded encrypted file can only be decrypted with the corresponding keys; we cannot provide those keys for you.
Uninstalling the app from your device does not by itself request deletion of your Cloud account.
2. If You Cannot Access the App or Your Keys
If you still have your private key or another supported recovery method, you can restore access on a compatible device. If you already have access on another device, you can use that device. We cannot recover private keys.
npub is a public identifier. Knowing it does not, by itself, establish the right to delete an account. Losing your record of a public identifier is not the same as losing your private key. What matters is retaining a way to verify control of your identity.
If you have lost your private key, all devices with active access, and every other supported verification method, we cannot restore control of your identity for you. An email from an arbitrary address, knowledge of a public key, or a claim of ownership alone is not enough for us to delete an account on its owner's behalf.
For questions about the account deletion feature, contact abuse@veydan.net. Contacting us does not replace verification of your authority, and it does not mean we can restore access or carry out an unverified request. Do not send your private key or recovery phrase.
3. What Is Deleted and What Is Retained
After a verified request, we delete the Cloud account and associated data under our control, subject to technical processing times and applicable legal exceptions. Deleting encrypted objects under our control does not require us to read their contents.
Deleting a Cloud account:
- Ends Cloud service for that account.
- Does not destroy the cryptographic public key or transfer control of the identity to us.
- Does not, by itself, erase local copies on your devices.
- Does not delete copies already received by other participants, independent servers, or external services.
- Does not enable us to recover previously deleted files or missing keys.
Financial records, materials relating to legal requests, and certain security or dispute records may be retained to the extent and for the periods permitted or required by law. Data in backups is removed through the applicable cleanup cycle; valid preservation requirements take precedence. For details, see our Privacy Policy.
4. Paid Plans
Deleting a Cloud account does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund for services already provided. Cancellation and refund rights are governed by the purchase terms and any legal requirements that cannot be waived.
If your plan renews automatically, you must cancel future charges using the method specified at purchase. If that method is unavailable, contact hello@veydan.net with any payment details you have. We review billing issues using the relevant records; do not send your private key with your request.
Check your renewal status before deleting your account. Any nonwaivable rights to cancel a subscription and prevent improper charges remain in effect regardless of whether you delete your Cloud account.
5. Other Personal Information Requests
Technical limits on recovering a cryptographic identity do not prevent us from considering requests about data we actually hold. For example, we may be able to verify that a support request or confirmed payment transaction relates to you without restoring access to your messages.
Send these requests to hello@veydan.net. We review them under our Privacy Policy and verify your authority in relation to the specific data involved. Being unable to verify your right to delete one account does not mean all your other requests will automatically be denied.
